Preview:

As the caravan of the Ireland Tri-nation series rolls on, hosts Ireland will take on the Netherlands in the 3rd match at The Village in Dublin. The Netherlands would be looking to recover from the shellacking they got at the hands of the Scottish duo of George Munsey (127) and Kyle Coetzer (89) in the previous game.

The duo racked up a 200-run stand in just 15.1 overs, leaving the Dutch a mountain to climb; which they eventually fell short by 58 runs. The first game between these two sides was washed out due to rain.

Weather Condition/Report:

On a positive note, Dublin’s weather has substantially improved in the past two days, and Wednesday is expected to be a bright and sunny day with maximum temperature hovering around 18 degrees and lower temperature at eight degrees.

Pitch Condition/Report:

As has been a case for a while now and most certainly in the past two games played at The Village, that it offers virtually nothing to the bowlers. With flat decks and short boundaries, it is a safe haven for the batsman. The past two T20Is has seen teams scoring in excess of 200- in Scotland’s case in excess of 250- while batting first, and much of the same can be expected in tomorrow’s game.

Average first innings score: 215 (Record in T20I matches since 2018)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 6 Lost – 4

Paul Stirling didn’t play the game against Scotland due to niggle and it remains to be seen if he gets fit in time for this encounter.

Expert Advice:

With the pitch being flat and boundaries short, another run-fest is expected at The Village. Hence, picking more top-order batsman or even making them captain/vice-captain will be a prudent punt.

Paul Stirling, who missed out on the game against Scotland due to a niggle could be a risky pick.

Probable Winners:

With Ireland playing on their home turn and considering the experience that they have in their squad, they should see off Netherland and notch up vital points in the tri-series.
