The Kings XI Punjab are slowing getting to a point from where there is no comeback. The team has lost six games in the first half of the season. And now, to have any chance to make it to the final four, they need some miracles to happen in the coming weeks. Therefore, once again the franchise is in limbo after all the pre-season excitement and promise.

For Punjab, their perennial problem of chopping and changing the team has again let them down. Besides, some of their marquee players have played the spoilsport. One of them is Glenn Maxwell. The Australian is quickly running out of time to prove his worth in the league. For long, Maxwell has been living on his past heroics in IPL. Especially, of his 2014 breakthrough outings, which made him a star in this league.

However, since that, his stocks have fallen off the cliff. He has been putting up below-par performances season after season. And even then, he has signed elusive IPL contracts before every year. This year was no different as Punjab paid him a whopping amount of 10.75 crores. For the amount, he has received Maxwell should have been their biggest match-winner.

But it has been the exact opposite, as he has failed big time. He has scored mere 58 runs in 7 games. Those numbers suggest that till now, it has cost Punjab almost 19 lakhs for every run from Maxwell. If that’s not enough, then he has let the team in a hole by playing rash shots in precarious situations. It’s time the Australian should be penalized with a deserved pay cut.
