5) Mumbai Indians – Krunal Pandya (8.8 crores)

At the moment, the Mumbai Indians seem unstoppable. Whether it is batting, bowling, or fielding, the team has managed to outclass their opponents in every facet of the game. And that’s why it will not be wrong to say that they are sailing through the league stages. Still, they will be looking to continue their hot run of form as the tournament is entering into that decisive phase.
So far, the team seems to find a new hero in every outing, which has been their biggest strength. On the other hand, some of them have also chipped in with useful contributions consistently. Except for Krunal Pandya, whose form has been erratic. The all-rounder has been quiet in the first half of this season.
Neither he has given runs, nor he has given wickets to the captain. In particular, his bowling has been below-par compared to the other bowlers of the team. He has only picked up five wickets in 7 games. And that too with an economy rate of 8.18. Those numbers are a fair reflection of his inability to strike for the team and further raises questions of his worth.
Krunal is one of Mumbai’s highest-paid cricketers with an annual salary of 8.8 crores. But he hasn’t been anywhere close to justifying that price tag. In fact, he earns more than some of his teammates like Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard, who have been game-changers of this Mumbai side. In simple terms, Krunal has failed to repay the faith shown by the franchise. And if the trend continues, then the franchise should consider giving him a pay cut before the start of the next season.
