In early days of cricket scoring 300 was once considered an improbable task but now after the advent of the T20 cricket and the introduction of powerplay field restrictions batters have adapted an aggressive approach while batting and we are getting to see the score of 300 attained quite regularly. It is commendable that West Indies, despite having played limited overs cricket right from the day of its foundation have lost only 27 matches conceding 300. The flat pitches offer very little assistance to the bowlers, that is one of the reasons why Asian teams have conceded more 300 plus runs. They’ve not produced much bowlers of the best quality barring a few like Shakib and Mashrafe Mortaza. They feature at the 4th place in the list with 34 losses. 3. India – 39: India. Barring Zaheer, Srinath and Venkatesh not many Indian pacers make it to the elite league of bowlers. Also the flat and dropping wickets of India haven’t helped them either. 2. They have had only a few great bowlers in their ranks over the years like Heath Streak and Henry Olanga. Apart from that, they have not produced much bowlers that meets the requirements to be called a world class bowler. It is surprising given the fact that they have produced world class bowlers like Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan, etc. The stat is also a reflection of the modern game where the batsmen have resorted to more of aggressive batting. Of late, Sri Lanka’s bowling has been less impressive. It was against Sri Lanka that Rohit Sharma scored 264 runs. They have lost 48 matches after having conceded 300 runs.
