The Singh family had not one but two reasons to celebrate on Tuesday. Two cousins Anmolpreet Singh and Prabhsimran Singh found striking deals in the IPL 2019 auction. While Anmolpreet was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 80 lakhs, Prabhsimran went for a whopping 4.8 crores to Kings XI Punjab. Hailing from Patiala, the family was overwhelmed with the turn of events at the auction.

Anmolpreet’s father Satvinder Singh was a known handball player. He wasn’t a cricket fan but is quite impressed with the kids in the family. Satvinder conceded how the handball goal posts had been replaced with cricket nets in their backyard for a long time. On the other hand, Surjit Singh, Prabhsimran’s father remarked that he would be excited for the Mumbai vs Punjab tie.

Entire family was doing Bhangra

Surjit remarked that their celebrations turned to another level when Prabhsimran instigated a bidding war. Even the 18-year-old conceded that there he wasn’t holding a lot of expectations and the amount wasn’t even on his mind. His father said that even the neighbours joined them and they were all dancing till midnight.

“When Anmol was picked by Mumbai Indians, we started celebrating with sweets, but once Prabhsimran’s bidding started, we just went mad. The entire family was doing bhangra. Our neighbours were dancing in front of our house. The celebrations went on till midnight,” Surjit Singh was quoted as saying by TOI.

“We all were glued to the television set. I was confident that bhaiya (Anmolpreet) will get a contract. But I had never imagined that I would get into any of the franchises with such a hefty price tag,” revealed Prabhsimran.

Prabhsimran is a clean striker of the ball

Anmolpreet had already created a buzz following his recent first-class performances as well as for India U19. The 20-year-old is capable of pinch hitting which makes him a valuable asset in the shortest format.

“He is a clean striker of the ball. In our school days, we gave such nightmares to the other teams. We were playing an inter-school tournament in Patiala and in one match one of our oppositions didn’t take the field. Their coach said they didn’t want to get embarrassed as the opposition bowlers were terrified,” Anmolpreet said.
