Abhishek Nayar, the left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace, was a star for the Mumbai team, the last time they lifted the trophy. Nayar was the second leading run-getter of the season with 966 runs under his name in 2013-13 after featuring in 11 matches at an average of 96.6. Batting in the middle order, he hit 8 fifties and 3 tons with the best of 132 in the tournament. Mumbai defeated Saurashtra in the finals to lift the trophy for the 40th time. He also chipped in with vital 19 wickets in the season.

4. Rusi Modi – 1008 runs (1944-45):

Rusi Modi was evidently a run accumulator, this fact becomes evident from his Test average of 46 and first-class average of 53, which also weighed a lot on paper when seen alongside his 20 centuries in the latter respect. In Ranji Trophy between 1943/44 and 1944/45, he scored five hundreds in successive innings for Bombay (now Mumbai), seven in successive matches. His aggregate in 1944-45 season was total of 1008 runs in just 5 matches at an average of 201.6! He scored 5 tons, with the best of unbeaten 245 against Baroda.
