New Zealand’s left-handed opener Tom Latham, son of former all-rounder Rod Latham is known for his stable batting and selective shots in the longer format of the game to give momentum to the middle order to set-up a big total. But in this series with the failure of experienced Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill who had earlier played well on the Indian soil, Latham has proved his worth in the Kiwi side in both the limited-overs format as well as the Test matches.

He carried his bat through the innings in the first ODI, the first New Zealand batsman to do so and he also had a decent run mark in the following matches and scored a couple of half-centuries to break Nathan Astle’s record of 234 runs that he scored in 1999 to became the Kiwi batsman with most runs on Indian soil in an ODI series.
