Shane Watson’s name doesn’t need an introduction. The Australian had a great stint playing for whichever team he played so far in his career except for Royal Challengers Bangalore. But, it was not his fault as the Bangalore-based franchise failed to utilise the potential of the former Aussie all-rounder. He was bought by RCB in the 2016 season at a hefty price of 9.5 crores INR.

But, in IPL 2018, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings and the fortunes turned for the player who was back at his helm best. He muscled 555 runs in 15 games at a brilliant strike rate of 154.59 with two tons and two half-centuries. Also, he played an important role in CSK’s triumph in the 2018 season.

The difference between Watson’s performances for CSK and RCB was the trust shown over the player by his team owners and his skipper. In CSK, MS Dhoni was well aware of Warner’s abilities due to which he offered Watson with ample of opportunities to get back into his groves.

This turned out to be the main reason behind the success of the 38-year-old cricketer with the bat as well as the ball. In contrary to that, RCB’s team management’s decision to release Shane Watson can be referred to as their worst decision in the last decade.
