After a day off yesterday it was another double at the LPL. The second match of the day took place between the Dambulla Viiking and the Kandy Tuskers. The latter badly needed a win as they had already lost three out of their four games before this one. After winning the toss they opted to bat first.
They had a decent start as they managed to reach a score of 46-1 at the end of the powerplay. Captain Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis were involved in a good partnership. The former finished with a score of 41 while the latter scored 55 runs.
None of the other batsmen got going and therefore the last half of the inning did not see a lot of runs being scored. They scored only 70 runs off the last 10 overs which is below par for T20 cricket. When a team is restricted to 156 you know that that bowlers have done a good job. Kasun Rajitha and Malinda Pushpakumara were the pick of the bowlers as they picked up two wickets each.

Angelo Perera makes the most of the an opportunity
Chasing 157, the Dambulla side did not get off to a good start as they lost Niroshan Dickwella in the very first over. In a surprising move, Angelo Perera was promoted to the number three spot. He did not disappoint as he went on to score a match winning 67 off 49 deliveries. His knock included five boundaries and three sixes.
He played a cool and calm inning to take his team very close to the target. When he was dismissed in the 17th over, only 22 runs were required for victory. He had pretty much done the job for his team by then. Captain Dasun Shanaka played a good finishing knock as he scored 33 runs off just 23 balls.
Despite none of them staying till the end, Viiking managed to finish off the match in 19.2 overs. They won by five wickets and this was their third win of the season. None of the Tuskers bowlers were able to make a massive impact as no one secured more than a solitary wicket. Angelo Perera was given the man of the match for his sensible knock which helped his team secure the victory.

So that was the #AngeloPerera everyone was going on abt those days.
Same weakness that ails other SL LOIs batters, seems to ail him as well; can't get going from ball 1.#DVvKT #LPLT20— Cham J (@Uppercut07) December 3, 2020
