The Women in Blue came out victorious against the England Women in the third and final ODI match played at the Lord's Cricket Ground on September 24 (Saturday). It was Jhulan Goswami's last international game, but all the attention was grabbed by the Indian spinner Deepti Sharma who ran out England's batter Charlie Dean for backing too much at the non-striker's end.

After the match ended on a controversial note, several former cricketers and experts gave their opinion on the matter. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan was also not left behind in criticizing the Indian spinner.

Mankad is in the rules, but I hope it's not a go-to tactic: Vaughan wrote on Twitter

“Mankad is in the rules, but I hope it’s not a go-to tactic. You surely don’t train all your lives to win a game using that tactic .. and I know Batters should train to stay behind the line but it stinks seeing a game won like that .. Yesterday was a bloody good game too #India,” Vaughan wrote on Twitter.

However, Vaughan's words did not go down well with the Indian fans as they were quick to slam the former English batter. Apart from Vaughan, several other English cricketers including Stuart Broad, Sam Billings, Nasser Hussain, and James Anderson criticized Deepti for her actions.

Despite receiving so much flak from the English players, Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur backed Deepti for her actions and stated that what she did was within the laws of the game.  "I thought you will ask about the first nine wickets because they were also not easy to take. I don't think we have done something new. What I feel is, that shows your awareness of what the batters are doing. I will back my player because I don't think she has done something which is not in the ICC rules," said Harmanpreet during the post-match presentation ceremony.
