The Cape Town provided a wonderful spectacle for the crowd. The hosts managed to win the game by 72 runs and lead the series 1-nil. It was that kind of day where the bowlers enjoyed every bit as 18 wickets fell in less than three complete sessions. South Africa had the last laugh with the conclusion of a competitive Test match.

After Day 3 was washed out with persistent rain right through and the Proteas resumed at 65/2. As the pitch was covered for the entire day, the moisture surely played a role as it assisted the Indian pacers. India staged a complete turnaround in the first session to skittle the hosts out.

Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah created havoc in the South African batting ranks. The Proteas were reduced to 95/7 from being 65/2. The likes of Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock failed to make any difference. AB de Villiers fought a lone battle from the other end.

The Proteas were bundled for 130 runs as the first session came to an end. Shami and Bumrah picked up three wickets each. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya got a couple of wickets. India were set a target of 208 runs in conditions that made it seem a tricky one.

The Indians were off to a good start scoring 30 runs before losing their first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara got out in no time as a flurry of wickets reduced India to 39/3. With skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma at the crease, hopes were still alive.

Unlike the first innings, Kohli seemed to have regained his touch. However, just when India were looking comfortable, he got out lbw. His wicket triggered another collapse in the Indian batting lineup. From 72/3, India went down to 82/7. Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar tried to not give up until the end but they eventually got all out for 135 runs.

Vernon Philander registered his best bowling figures of 6/42. On a day, that saw India win one session and South Africa win another, there was lots of entertainment on Twitter. Right from praising Indian bowling to mocking South Africa choking, and then praising the Proteas pace attack to trolling Rohit and Dhawan.
