Prior to the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Yuvraj Singh wasn’t expected to be a brute force despite his stupendous records, both at the domestic and international level. He had a base price of INR 1 crore and in the auctions and franchises were reluctant to shell out the substantial amount for the veteran. In the first instance, the Chandigarh-born all-rounder went unsold.

However, Mumbai Indians (MI) picked up him at the fag end of the day at his base price. Thereafter, the veteran has come out all guns blazing in the tournament. The Mumbai-based franchise played their opening match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Yuvraj didn’t disappoint by any means and churned out a knock of 53 from 35 with five fours and three sixes.

Yuvraj Singh goes berserk in Bangalore

The 37-year-old came into his own in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The southpaw came to bat after Mohammed Siraj got rid of the dangerous Rohit Sharma, who was looking ominous with a knock of 48 from 33 under his belt. Yuvraj ended up scoring 23 runs from 12 balls and his knock was laced with three sixes.

And all of them came against leg-break bowler Yuzvendra Chahal, who eventually finished with a four-wicket haul. And the maximums came off successive deliveries in the 14th over. In the first ball of the over, Chahal churned out a half-tracker and Yuvraj Singh smacked it over deep mid-wicket. The leggie compensated and bowled a full-length ball, and the batter was up to the task.

He tonked the leather straight down the ground. Next time, the bowler bowled a wide delivery and Singh muscled the cherry down the ground over the long-off boundary. To everyone’s disappointment, he got out in the very next ball after entertaining one and all, going for an expansive shot down the ground. In the meantime, Twitter heaped praises on the swashbuckling batsman.
