The fever of the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is starting to settle now with the first game only a few days away. The host broadcaster Star India has already been trying to up the ante in his maiden stint of the tournament by scheduling analysis programmes to the build-up of the tournament. Following the trend which previous broadcaster Sony started, they also created the anthem for the T20 extravaganza and released it on Monday evening. However, Twitterati is not at all amused with the new song and has slammed Star over the same.

The new anthem has been released in five languages – Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu. It was also put on all the platforms – TV, radio, and digital. The artists who worked on the anthem this year South African film maker, Dan Mace, music director, Raajeev V Bhalla and vocalist Siddharth Basrur. They’ve named the IPL as the Best v Best which clearly suggests that it is the top T20 League in the World. Over the years the tournament has only grown in stature and will be doing the same this season as well.

Twitter misses Sony

The artists who worked so hard to prepare the anthem have used an old song from the Bollywood movie ‘Naya Daur’. The lyrics of that song were ‘Ye desh hai veer jawano ka’ and the new lyrics read as ‘Ye khel hai sher jawano ka’ which is a decent one. The video of the anthem also sees all the clips of the IPL ever since its inception and includes the famous Helicopter shot from MS Dhoni.

However, Twitterati is not impressed with the anthem and have slammed Star India for mocking the famous old Bollywood song. They expressed their disappointment clearly and missed the old broadcaster Sony and in their opinion, Sony was creating the best anthems for the cricketing festival in India.
