In recent times, cricket has not only evolved as a game of sport but players have helped it to be more than just a game. The demand of modern day cricket doesn’t stick to conventional metric or skills but has made a paradigm shift to fitness. In changing scenario, fitness is the key to success. The teams which are doing extensively well in all three formats work regressively on their fitness which eventually gives them the results.

It has been rightly said, ‘insanely’ fit seems to be synonymous with Virat Kohli who looks to create archetype and expects his team mates fall in that cadre. After a dazzling stint in Sri Lanka where team India outplayed the host in all three departments, he spoke about his fitness regime and his cricketing future.

Wishes to play for another 8-10 years

At the launch of the RP-SG Indian Sports Honours, Virat Kohli reckons he has 8-10 years of International Cricket left in him provided he keeps up his current fitness regime. Kohli said, ““I think a lot of us don’t realize how good we are. We limit ourselves already before we (can) try. That’s what I felt because I only have eight more years, 10 maximum if I really train hard.”

Playing cricket in India, Virat Kohli also keeps the passion for other games like Football, Badminton, and Tennis and advocated respect for all sports. “To do that (develop a culture of respect for all sports) one needs a platform, facility, and competition of world class levels. Other countries have a mindset about all the sports but growing up in India, I didn’t even know the rules of other sports. It is the right time to give back to the sport and I hope these awards grow into a privileged event someday,” as quoted by sportstarlive.

Lastly, Sports Journalist Federation of India (SJFI) will be an integral part of the process through which winners will be selected. Virat Kohli has already taken his name back from the list. The event is scheduled to take place on November 11 in Mumbai.
