The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will resume with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday (19 September). This is undoubtedly the biggest rivalry in this high-octane T20 league. MI have slightly tipped CSK to have the bragging rights in this tussle. During this edition of the IPL too, MI won the match owing to some brilliant ball-striking by all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

CSK will look to settle scores this time around and start their UAE leg on a bright note. These two power-packed franchises were also one of the two teams to reach Dubai early for the preparations. Both the teams are also similar in more ways than one. They like to maintain the core of the squad and build the team likewise for each season. Apart from that, the squad believes in also giving the players a long rope in the team.

Shane Watson, a former CSK player knows a thing or two about the franchise in yellow. The mercurial all-rounder was part of the team for close to three years and is best remembered for his match-winning hundred in the finals of IPL 2018 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He is back again but is donning the role of expert for the Star Sports show Select Dugout.

Shane Watson is excited to see MS Dhoni back

In a short clip uploaded on Star Sports Youtube channel, Watson spoke about how he is excited about the resumption of IPL and is also looking forward to watch MS Dhoni take the field. “Two things I am looking forward to in the upcoming clash between MI and CSK. Number one is the great MS Dhoni. Just to see how quickly he can get up and running after having a bit of a layoff. Such an integral part of the CSK so can’t wait to see that.

“The second one is who gets across the line, who gets back to winning ways after having a layoff in this next phase of the IPL,” Watson said. Over the past six meetings, MI have managed to win a humongous five times as compared to CSK’s sole win. The head-to-head record sees MI winning 20 games while CSK have won on 13 occasions.
