Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram involved in unpleasant banter on Twitter
2 Min Read

Former legendary fast-bowling pair of Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram was involved in an unpleasant situation in social media as both made some unhealthy comments against each other. The duo shared a wonderful rapport during their playing days, so it came as a surprise to everyone that at this age the legendary duo took a dig at each other.
Wasim Akram who is arguably the greatest left-arm pacer of all-time was there at the crease when Anil Kumble was on the verge of creating history against them at the Feroz Shah Kotla in 1999. Sharing his experience in an interview during the historic Test where Anil Kumble was just a wicket away from taking 10 wickets in an innings, Akram said that Waqar walked up to him and gave an idea of getting run out to deny Anil Kumble the 10th wicket.
“Kumble had got nine wickets and I and Waqar were batting in the crease. Waqar came to me and said that “How about getting run out..? so that Kumble does not get his 10th wicket”, Akram recalled.
Apparently, Wasim replied by saying if he was destined to achieve the feat he will. “You can’t deny him the feat if he is destined for it. But I can assure you that I am not going to give my wicket to Kumble but subsequently it was me who gifted my wicket to Kumble”, added Akram.
Kismat ke aage ,all saazish fail.
Well done Wasim bhai.

The statement didn’t go down well with Waqar Younis as the former speedster took to his twitter handle and wrote that nothing of this sort happened and perhaps age was catching up on Akram.
It was a big statement from Waqar who denied any of these allegations. He tweeted that “This never happened, I think age is catching up Wasim Bhai” and then included a hashtag with NOT TRUE. Wasim hasn’t replied yet and we hope the matter stops here.
