Veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh could not resist trying his hands at his childhood game love. Well, it was not cricket. As a young kid, Harbhajan loved playing the game of ‘Gilli danda’. It is one of the most popular and age-old games in India. It is similar to cricket in the sense that there is a bail-like small wooden piece which is used as a ball. It is kept on the floor and then given a slight lift by a gentle hit.
When the bail goes in the air, it is then clubbed as hard as it can be by the player using a longer wooden piece. The Mumbai Indians players recently tried their hands at the game during a promotional shoot event. The players surely had a great time playing the game. Star player of the season thus far for the MI camp, Hardik Pandya, posted a picture on the social media too.
He shared a picture with fellow teammates Lasith Malinga, Mitch McClenaghan and Harbhajan Singh. Along with the picture, he wrote, “Great win last night and it was fun to play gili danda with the boys during the shoot ?? @harbhajan_singh @Mitch_Savage”.

Senior player Harbhajan Singh went a shade ahead after the event. He shared a video of him getting back to his favorite game one more time. He posted the video on his official Instagram handle. He added a caption along with the video too. Harbhajan Singh wrote, “Just another day… another sport…my childhood sport #GilliDanda my fav?✅ #IPL10 #IPLDiaries”
Harbhajan has not been in the best of the forms in the recent times. He was also not a part of the starting eleven in the first match of Mumbai Indians this year. However, he did make it to the side in the second match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Albeit he went wicketless, he ensured that he did not leak too many runs on the day. For now, watch him play Gilli Danda again:
