Former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy has come in news for criticizing Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his verbal clash with Steve Smith. Healy slammed Kohli for his aggressive brand of cricket against Australian in Bengaluru which India won by 75 runs on Tuesday.
Healy said he was ‘losing respect’ for Virat Kohli. But the internet could not help but found out many uncomfortable videos in which Healy was seen either sledging opposition batsmen behind the stump or disagreed with umpires’ decision whenever he got out.
Healy’s comment ridiculed the cricket community. So after India’s 75 runs victory in Bengaluru, the cricket world slammed him. Captain Kohli was asked about Healy’s comment on him. Kohli hit back recounting the 1997 Centurion Test fiasco.
While asked about Healy’s ‘losing respect’ comment at the press conference, Kohli said, “We’ve got 1.2 billion people in India. One person doesn’t make a difference to my life.” Kohli in his comment also asked Healy to search on YouTube, when he was given out wrongly in Centurion.

The ball clearly hit his right pad, but the umpire had given him out. Those days there were no DRS, so Healy had to leave the pitch. In that video, Healy was seen shaking his head constantly which signified his disagreement with the umpire’s call. While walking back to the pavilion, Healy pointed his bat towards some spectators, yelling ‘bu.. sh.. umpiring’.
The match had seen controversial umpiring, but Healy was banned for two matches for his behaviour. Apart from this, in one of the Test matches between Australia and West Indies Healy removed the bail with his hands, but failed to make contact between wicket and the ball. Batsman Brian Lara who fell down talked Healy about his stumpings. Australian players were quite sure that Healy missed the stumping, but Healy appealed for dismissal.
Lara was seen upset, but he agreed with umpires’ call as they talked with Healy and him to facilitate the decision. It was Healy who cheated Lara.
After India’s 75-run victory against Australia, Kumar Sangakkara, Shoaib Akhtar and Dale Steyn heaped praise on Kohli and slammed Healy.
