The Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars will face off in the first game WBBL game of 2019 in the doubleheader game at the MCG. The Men’s BBL will also witness Melbourne Derby on the New Year Day after of the WBBL match. Both the sides are on the same lines at the moment as the Stars have won four and lost five of their nine matches while the Renegades won three of their eight with another game ending without a result.

In the previous fixture between these two teams on Saturday at the Docklands, the Renegades edged past the Stars by a 1-wicket margin. The Stars will have a change in this match as Chloe Rafferty replaces their captain Kristen Beams. Erin Osborne will take over the captaincy responsibilities as she did in the absence of Beams at the start of the season. The Renegades didn’t make any changes to their winning line-up.

The 39th match of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be played between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

The match starts at 2:50 PM local time (3:50 AM GMT) (9:20 AM IST).

Pitch Condition/Report:

The MCG pitch has been on the slower side recently in all formats. During the last season’s WBBL, the average first innings score was only 124. Teams chasing won two times while one game ended in a Tie. Another game was won while defending 130 that too by a 2-run margin. This WBBL match could be played on a better surface as it will be the first of the New Year’s double-header matches at the MCG.

The Renegades’ players Danielle Wyatt and Sophie Molineux couldn’t make a strong impact in the season so far. Molineux bagged a couple of wickets while Wyatt made a quick 18 in the last game. The Renegades’ openers will be hoping to make the best contribution in the New Year’s day game.
