CricTracker brings you a special edition of weekly statistical round-up for every week starting from the 32nd week of 2017 (6th August to 12th August) where we list out all the major records and stats created during the specific week. The previous week witnessed India continuing their dominance in Sri Lanka, England’s 3-1 win over South Africa, the T20 leagues in England & Windies and not to forget the India U19s dominance in their tour of England.

Here we look at the major records and stats created during the 32nd week of 2017:

1 – Ravichandran Ashwin became the first spinner in Test history to complete 100 wickets while opening the bowling. He achieved this feat on the 4th day of Colombo (SSC) Test.

1 – Moeen Ali became the first player in Test history to score 250 runs and take 25 wickets in a Test series of 4 or fewer matches. Seven players have recorded 8 instances of the double in 5 or more match series.

4 – India’s win at the Colombo (SSC) was the 4th Test victory as captain for Virat Kohli making him the most successful visiting captain in Sri Lanka. He went past Ricky Ponting’s 3 Test wins.

6/19 – Tim Bresnan became only the 2nd player to take a 6-wicket haul while leading the side in Twenty20 cricket. He did this feat in the NatWest T20 Blast for Yorkshire against Lancashire.

9 – India Under-19s recorded their 9th consecutive win in Youth ODIs in England; no other team has won more than 7 Youth ODIs in a row in England.

188 – The partnership stand between India’s Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul at Pallekele is the highest opening stand for a visiting pair in Sri Lanka in Test cricket. Overall, it is the 3rd highest opening partnership for any pair in Tests in Sri Lanka.

191 – Aaron Finch completed 6000 runs in Twenty20 cricket in just 191 innings to become the 3rd fastest to reach the milestone among the 15 players with 6000 T20 runs. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli completed 6000 runs in their T20 careers in 162 and 184 innings respectively.

8007 – Brendon McCullum became only the 2nd player to aggregate over 8000 runs in Twenty20 cricket after Chris Gayle. He completed the milestone in CPL while playing for Trinbago Knight Riders. Dwayne Smith and Shoaib Malik also completed 7000 runs in the CPL during the week.

46112 – Kumar Sangakkara has so far scored 46112 runs in his professional cricket career; the 2nd most among Asian players. Sangakkara went past Zaheer Abbas (46083) during the CPL game.
