Barbados Tridents, one of the teams in the Caribbean Premier League has announced Jason Holder as the skipper of the side for the upcoming CPL season. The side confirmed the news through a media released on Thursday. Notably, Holder had missed the last season’s tournament as he was busy representing the national side in England.

The West Indies side’s ODI and Test captain will return to lead the Trident’s side in the 2018 edition of the tournament. “I am delighted to be back at the CPL for this season and I am really looking forward to making Barbados proud in 2018,” said the 26-year-old.

Holder while talking about his appointment felt that his side for the upcoming season has a very good side which consists of young players. “We have a healthy contingent of local players in the squad this year and we are ready to make this a winning year for our home team,” said the West Indies skipper.

Holder recently led West Indies during the World Cup qualifiers where West Indies and Afghanistan became the last 2 sides to feature in the 2019 edition of the World Cup. Holder played a very important role during the matches for West Indies with both ball and bat.

Young Barbados all-rounder Shamar Springer said that he is looking forward to playing under the leadership of Holder. He felt that the side will do well under the leadership of Holder. “Jason is a world-class player and a world-class captain that I have always looked up to as an example to follow. I am really excited to play with him and I am confident he will get the best out of the Tridents team this year when the CPL gets underway,” said Springer.

Dwyane Bravo‘s Trinbago Knight Riders had won the tournament in the last edition beating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots led by Chris Gayle.
