West Indies and India will lock horns for five T20Is, starting on July 29. The Men in Blue come into the series on the back of a 2-1 away T20I series win over England earlier in the month. West Indies, on the other hand, won their previous T20I series, 2-0 against visitors Bangladesh.
The two teams previously met in February for three T20Is in India, which the hosts won 3-0. West indies have five wins in 11 T20Is in the year so far, and India have won 12 in 16 games. Since the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, India drew the series 2-2 against South Africa at home and won 2-0 over Ireland away before the England tour.
West Indies and India have met 20 times in T20Is, and the Asian team have won on 13 of those occasions, and West Indies have won six times. India have rested senior players such as Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli for the T20I series in West Indies. Skipper Rohit Sharma will join the camp for the series along with Rishabh Pant, who were not part of the preceding three-match ODI series.
India’s senior spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja combine again. Star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is rested, and left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has made a comeback. India will look to extend their unbeaten streak in the T20I series in the year, while the hosts will look to make amends for their away loss in February. This would be good preparation and lead up to the T20 World Cup in October for both teams.
India squad for T20I series: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Avesh Khan, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar Arshdeep Singh
