Virat Kohli has time and again expressed his fondness towards Test cricket. The current Indian skipper, who has proved his dominance in all forms of the game, has always been inclined towards the traditional format. Kohli even welcomed the idea of Day-Night Tests and World Test Championship for the revival of the longest and oldest format of the sport.
A player might have flaunted his batting expertise in the limited-overs format. However, his technique, temperament and resilience gets tested when he dons whites for his country. While Kohli has been a phenomenal player in the limited-overs format, he has proved his mettle by conquering the Test format as well. His mastery in all formats, regardless of the conditions, puts him in the elite list of world-class batsmen.
While expressing his love towards the Test format, Kohli took to Instagram on Wednesday and posted a photograph of himself in the whites and wrote, “Nothing comes close to playing an intense game in whites. What a blessing to be able to play test cricket for India.”

Kohli has led India to 33 Test wins, most by any Indian skipper
No other batsman apart from Steve Smith possesses the capability to challenge Kohli’s proficiency in Tests. The Australian run-machine has been in phenomenal form post his return to the game from the infamous-ball tampering incident. In 73 Tests, Smith has gathered 7227 runs at an exemplary average of 62.8.
Along with his batting prowess, Kohli has also proved his captaincy skills by steering India to the top of ICC Test rankings. He even led the team to its maiden Test series triumph in Australia. The 31-year-old boasts an impressive captaincy record in Tests, having led India to the victory in 33 wins, most by any Indian skipper.
Kohli’s last expedition in Tests was rather a forgetful one as India suffered a whitewash against New Zealand. The Indian skipper’s batting expeditions weren’t great either as he could amass only 38 runs in two Tests of the series. However, the right-hander is touted to lead his side from the front in the much-awaited series against Australia, slated to be played in the latter part of 2020.
