The WT20 champions Windies once again showed their power in the shortest format with a full-fledged team that thrashed the ICC World XI with a 72-run margin in the Hurricane Relief match. The World XI skipper Shahid Afridi invited Windies to bat first who got off to a great start with Evin Lewis smashing a 23-ball fifty. Contributions from Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin and Andre Russell saw the visiting team finishing on 199/4. The World XI got off to a disastrous start losing four wickets for just eight runs. Thisara Perera’s 37-ball 62 helped his team to score 127 before they were bowled out.

Here are all the stats and numbers that were recorded during the charity T20I game:

0.286ICC World XI has a win-loss record of 0.286 as they won only two out of the nine International matches. Only Namibia (0), Bermuda (0.225) and Africa XI (0.250) have worst win-loss ratio than World XI among the teams that featured in more than five Internationals.

1 – Sandeep Lamichhane became the first player to make his International debut for a combined team (World XI/Asia XI/Africa XI). Lamichhane was part of 24 Internationals for Nepal but none for them possessed ODI or T20I status. Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel made their ODI debuts while playing for Africa XI but after making their Test format for South Africa.

2 – Luke Ronchi and Dinesh Karthik became the first set of players to bag ducks for two different teams in the T20I format. Ronchi had four T20I ducks for New Zealand while Karthik had one in 17 T20I innings for India. No player was dismissed for a duck during the Independence T20I Cup which featured World XI.

2 – Thisara Perera’s fifty in this game is only the 2nd for him in 64 T20I innings. He scored 58 against Bangladesh during Nidahas Trophy. Perera is also the 2nd player after Hashim Amla to score T20I fifties for two different teams. The all-rounder also completed 1000 runs in the T20I format with his fifty.

15 – Windies’ tally of 15 sixes is the highest in a Twenty20 innings at the Lord’s. Middlesex hit 12 sixes against Essex in the 2017 NatWest T20 Blast game. That game witnessed a total of 19 which is the highest in a T20 match at the Lord’s before the WI-World XI surpassed it with 20 sixes.

64.28Chris Gayle’s batting strike-rate of 64.28 during his 28-ball 16 is the 2nd lowest for a Windies opener in a T20I inning. (Min: 25 balls faced) Dwayne Smith scored 11 off 29 balls at an S/R of 37.93 against India in the 2014 WT20 game. Gayle’s Strike-rate in this game is also the lowest for any opener in a T20I innings since 2016 and also the lowest for him in a T20I inning of 25 and more balls faced.
