Match Details:

The 1st Semi-Final of the 2019 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be played between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

The match starts at 10:20 AM local time (12:20 AM GMT) (5:40 AM IST). This match can be streamed live on Fancode in India.

Preview:

The first semi-final of WBBL 2019 pits the Adelaide Strikers against Perth Scorchers in Brisbane. Both teams won one game each in the league phase although the scenario has changed. With the English players leaving for the series against Pakistan, Perth Scorchers have been left shorthanded. Nevertheless, they were able to pass the litmus test against Hobart Hurricanes, courtesy of Meg Lanning’s hundred.

On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers will also not avail the services of Lauren Winfield although it is the duo of Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates, which has done most of the run-scoring this season. Adelaide will enter this game as the clear favourites although Perth Scorchers has already proven that they aren’t pushovers without Amy Jones and Natalie Sciver.

Weather Condition/Report:

The weather is perfect for a good game of cricket with a bright and windy day on the forecast. The temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius with a few clouds also expected to make an appearance.

Pitch Condition/Report:

A good batting track is expected for the WBBL Finals Week with the average score here being 142 for this season. While there is extra pace and bounce on offer for the pacers, the spinners should also get some purchase from the surface. With this being a morning fixture, either side would look to bat first and put a total on the board.

Average first innings score: 142 (Four WBBL 2019 games)

Record of Chasing Team: Won – 4, Lost – 0

Top Picks:

Sophie Devine has been the standout player of WBBL 05. Recently crowned WBBL player of the tournament, Sophie Devine leads the run-scoring charts with 699 runs at an average of 77.67. In addition to her batting exploits, she has picked sixteen wickets as well.

Her fellow team-mate, Suzie Bates is also one to watch out for in this crucial game. Although she has scored only 297 runs so far, she is capable of turning the screws in such a high octane game. Her counterpart, Meg Lanning is Perth Scorchers’ best bet with the bat. She comes into this game on the back of a hundred against Hobart Hurricanes, which is indicative of her supreme form in WBBL 2019.

Expert Advice:

Meg Lanning and Sophie Devine are rated at 11 and 12.5 credits respectively for this Dream11 contest. In order to accommodate both of them, picking Katie Mack is a decent ploy with the middle order batter coming in at number five for the Strikers.

Georgia Redmayne should get the nod over Tegan McPharlin with the latter batting at number nine for the Strikers. On the other hand, Redmayne should get enough time in the middle in the absence of Jones and Sciver, which makes her a dependable pick.

Probable Winners:

Adelaide Strikers are favourites to win this encounter.
