A renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle poked at the World XI side that is in Pakistan to take on the hosts in the ongoing T20 International series. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after all the efforts finally managed to bring back International cricket to the country. World XI team led by Faf du Plessis will be playing a couple more T20Is in Lahore after losing the first on Tuesday by 20 runs.

While the sole purpose of the series is to help Pakistan revive International cricket and not the result, Bhogle has invited criticism once again with his comments. This is not the first time, the commentator who is also termed as ‘voice of cricket’ has come under the scanner. Last time he has received scathing from all around for being too critical of Indian cricketers. BCCI too has kept him off the commentary panel since the controversy. However, that point can still be debated as all he stated was facts.

World XI teams always lose

In the past, when such games are held, very seldom World XI teams have won any match or the series. Referring to the history, Harsha expressed his thoughts on social media website Twitter. He posted a message which read, “The best thing about World XI kind of teams. They always attract a lot of attention and they always lose!”

Surely, the comment from such a renowned cricket expert is not expected when the players of the World XI have arrived Pakistan for a cause and not to win matches.

However, he tried to work his way out of that after realising it might backfire and cleared the air by tweeting again. This time he wrote, “Having said that, I don’t think this series is about who is in the “World XI”. It is about playing cricket in Pakistan.”

This is what he tweeted:
