Pragyan Ojha retired from international and first-class cricket with immediate effect. The left-arm spinner took to Twitter to confirm the news about retirement and went on to thank his followers and well-wishers for their support. Ojha announced his arrival to international cricket in the year 2008 when he made debut against Bangladesh in Karachi.
After he impressed everyone with his bowling skills, a year later, he went on to make his Test debut for India against Sri Lanka. Ojha was arguably one of the best left-arm spinners for India. The Odisha-born bowler plied his trade for India in 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20Is and ended up with a total of 144 wickets in the international circuit.
Ojha showcased his mettle in Tests where he accounted for 113 dismissals, registering his best bowling figures of 6-47. Notably, he was one of the best bowlers in first-class cricket where he has taken 424 wickets in 108 matches. His last appearance in first-class cricket came in 2018 when he played for Bihar against Uttarakhand in Dehradun.
He had also played for the now-defunct franchise Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians. Ojha was part of the title-winning team in IPL 2009 where he played a significant role in the IPL 2009 final by picking up three for 28 in his four-over bowling spell. After a memorable campaign, he played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His last appearance in the cash-rich premier league came in 2015. Having played 92 games in the league, he picked 89 wickets.

The 33-year-old Pragyan Ojha was last seen in playing for India against the West Indies in legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s farewell Test match in 2013.
Sachin Tendulkar wished Pragyan Ojha on retirement and said ‘You made my last Test special by picking 10 wickets’. India batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar took to his official Twitter handle and shared a picture of his with Pragyan Ojha. The caption reads: “@pragyanojha, it was always great to see your big heart & skill at work. You made my last Test special by picking 10 wickets. Welcome to the second innings club, my friend!”
