It would not be entirely wrong to say that Yuvraj Singh’s retirement has left a bad taste in the mouth. The main reason behind it not that the legendary batsman would not play for India anymore. The retirement was very much on the cards and it was only a matter of time before the World Cup-winning star would bow out of the game. The retirement has definitely disappointed the fans but what has disappointed even more is the way Yuvraj quit the game.

Yuvraj’s contribution in making India a force to reckon with in limited-overs format is second to none. His performance in the famous NatWest series win, the 2007 World T20 triumph and the 2011 World Cup victory will be always remembered fondly. No surprises then that the fans desperately wanted their beloved star to walk out on a high. Yuvraj duly deserved a fitting farewell. But the cruel fate did not let him enjoy one last outing in the famous blue jersey and he had to bid adieu to the game sitting inside a Mumbai hotel.

Yuvraj’s former teammate and current India vice-captain Rohit Sharma was also disappointed with the way the World Cup-winner bowed out. And Rohit did not refrain from making his sentiments clear as he tweeted, “You don’t know what you got till its gone. Love you brotherman You deserved a better send off. @YUVSTRONG12”

Well, Yuvraj was quick to reply to the tweet and his comment made it clear that he too was hurt with the way he retired. Wishing Rohit to do well in the game, Yuvraj wrote, “You know how I feel inside ! Love u brothaman you go be a legend ❤️”

Yuvraj reveals the farewell offer

Yuvraj Singh has sensationally revealed that the BCCI offered him the opportunity to play a farewell game for India if he failed the mandatory Yo-Yo test. However, Yuvraj passed the fitness test and never got the chance to play for India again. He last played for India in June 2017 during the tour of West Indies.

“I didn’t tell anyone in BCCI that I want a farewell game. If I had the potential, I would have left from the ground. I didn’t need a match. Was told that if I failed a Yo-Yo test then I can play a retirement match. I told them I don’t need the game, if I don’t pass the Yo-Yo test, I’ll go home quietly. I passed the Yo-Yo Test and rest is not my call,” he revealed.
