15 Interesting facts about Arjun Tendulkar – Gods own child: Arjun Tendulkar is a budding Indian cricketer who hails from Mumbai. Jr. Tendulkar just like his father is very passionate about cricket and dreams to represent the nation one day. Arjun is a left-handed batsman and a medium pace bowler and seems to be a bright prospect. His bowling run-up and the way he releases the cherry comes easy on the eye. Whatever we have seen of him till now, it seems that he is an exciting cricketer who has the potential to represent India in the future.

1. Birth:

Arjun was born on 24 September,1999 in Mumbai, India.

2. Family:

Arjun is the son of the legendary cricketer Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Cricket runs in his blood and he is also following the footsteps of his father and is known to be very passionate about the game.

3. Opposite to Sachin:

The junior Tendulkar is unlike his father as far as his game is concerned. Arjun is a left-handed cricketer while Sachin was a right-handed player. And Arjun is in talks for his caliber with the ball while Sachin was a legendary batter.

4. Similarities with his father:

Sachin wanted to be a bowler when he started playing cricket though his meticulous talents with the bat made him a legend of the game. Similarly, Arjun also wants to be a batsman but his bowling seems to be more effective. So the beginning of both of their cricketing journey seems to be quite the same.

5. Shadow of his father:

Arjun has always garnered lot of media attention in India as he is the son of Sachin Tendulkar, who is hailed as a divinely figure in India. Whatever he does comes in the news and he has been the hot toast in the Indian media. But yet he focuses on his game and doesn’t leave any stone unturned as far as learning tricks and trades of the game are concerned.

6. Schooling:

Tendulkar is a student of Dhirubhai Ambani International School located in the Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

7. Harris Shield debut:

Harris Shield tournament is the one where Sachin Tendulkar was involved in a mammoth 664-run partnership with Vinod Kambli. Arjun made his Harris Shield debut in 2011 but he couldn’t open his account with the bat and got out on a duck. But yet with his prodigal bowling he claimed 8 scalps in the match and guided Dhirubhai Ambani School to victory against the Jamnabai Narsee School.

8. Karnala Sports Academy:

The junior Tendulkar visits the Karnala Sports Academy which is located at New Panvel in Navi Mumbai, during weekends to hone his skills.

9. Maiden ton:

In May 2012, the 13-year-old Arjun scored his maiden century in the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Under-14 Summer Vacation tournament. The match was held at Sunder Cricket Club, Cross Maidan. The southpaw hammered 124 runs in that innings. Tendulkar struck 14 fours and a maximum in his knock. It helped Khar Gymkhana side beat the Goregaon Centre comprehensively by an innings and 21 runs in the semi-finals.

10. Junior tournaments:

At the age of 8, he started taking cricket seriously. Tendulkar played his first Under-13 tournament, 5 years ago in Pune. He was also selected to play for Mumbai in Under-14 West Zone league matches.

11. Most enchanting knock:

In September 2014, the left-handed batter put his destructive batting abilities on the show when he played a barbarous 42 ball 188 run knock for Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Under-16 cricket. Arjun has also played for Mumbai at age group level.

12. Bowling to English batsmen:

Recently, in one of the training sessions at the Lord’s, Arjun got the opportunity to showcase his skills with the red cherry against the English batsmen. Tendulkar is a regular in the indoor school at Lord’s. So ahead of the 2nd Ashes Test, he was invited to join a group of net bowlers who were there to help England batters in preparation. He was seen bowling to England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes.

13. Wasim Akram on Arjun Tendulkar:

Earlier this year, the Pakistani legend Wasim Akram had heaped praises on Arjun’s attitude. Akram was quoted by NDTV saying that, “He is a 15-year-old who is like any other kid in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka – he’s very enthusiastic about his cricket. He further added, “I told him a little bit about fitness, on wrist positioning and I explained to him how to bring the ball back onto the right-hander. He had a lot of questions for him and is very passionate about the game, and that is always a good sign.”

14. A well-known face:

Arjun has been seen accompanying Sachin Tendulkar many a times on the field or off the field. He has also been spotted with Sachin at many cricket functions and award ceremonies. Even on the day of Sachin’s retirement from international cricket, Arjun was present at Wankhade along with his mother and sister.

15. Strong bond with sister Sara:

Sara Tendulkar is Arjun’s elder sister. The junior Tendulkar is said to have a very good rapport and bond with his sister.
