Most of the teams had little work to do in IPL 2019 auctions since all the teams had retained their core team. However, there was heavy bidding for a few players, with Barinder Sran being one of them. Mumbai Indians picked him up for Rs 3.4 crores, after a heavy bidding war with Chennai Super Kings.
But in an already strong bowling attack of the team, Barinder could manage to get only two games, where he couldn’t even complete his four-over quota. Therefore, the Mumbai-based franchise might not hesitate to release him this year, for this will also free up a lot of purse value. Instead, they might prefer an in-form option in the team, who might be useful for them as a backup option.
Let us take a look at 5 players, who can replace Barinder Sran in the MI squad in IPL 2020
1. Pritam Das
When a bowler is breathing fire, it is absolutely impossible to stop him. This statement truly applies to the 31-year-old Pritam Das at the moment, who is currently second in the list of top wicket-takers in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
His excellent performance has powered his team Assam to win in six of their eight games so far. The pacer has scalped 21 wickets so far, which include two fifers alongside two 3-fers. He bowls at decent speeds, which can make him an effective option on flat Wankhede pitch. Lastly, he has opened sometimes for Assam, which proves his capability with the bat as well.
Pritam has all the traits of a good bowler but has never got enough recognition. But one will hope that he reaps fruits for his hard-work this time around in the form of IPL Franchises, who might be keenly looking at his Vijay Hazare Trophy heroics.
