Coronavirus outbreak has made the life of every individual quite miserable. Everything has come down to a tragic halt with nothing much happening in sports as well. The governments in major countries announced lockdown in order to protect the citizen from the novel virus.
Earlier, when cricket was in its full swing, the cricketers had to face the hate of the fans for not performing well on the field. However, now the chances were quite slim of any player facing any wrath of the fans as there is no cricket going on across the globe.
But with social media’s use being at its peak these days, a few of the cricketers have been at the receiving end of the lash out from the fans even during the lockdown.
Here we bring you five cricketers who received hate on social media during lockdown:
1. Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh, the veteran Indian spinner remains quite active on social media. He always comes out with his opinion on several trending topics. However, sometimes it doesn’t go down well with his fans and the same happened when he supported Shahid Afridi Foundation. It is well known that COVID-19 has made the daily life of the poor people quite miserable.
So, to ease down their problems, Shahid Afridi foundation began helping needy and underprivileged by providing all the necessary things like food, mask, etc. After watching such a gesture from Afridi’s foundation, Bhajji came out and shared his views over the same and said that the former Pakistan all-rounder is doing a great job. And, it is everyone’s’ responsibility to contribute a bit in order to support his foundation.
The 39-year-old shared his views through his Twitter handle that didn’t go down well with the Indian fans. Afterwards, he had to face the heat of his fans and followers on the social media platform. However, the cricketer later cleared that he will always stand for humanity while his wife Geeta Basra requested everyone to not make it a religion based problem and blow out of proportions.
