Australian batting firepower is embodied in Glenn Maxwell. Considering he’d been riding on the back of some sensational form from the BBL and the Trans-Tasman T20 Trophy before coming in for the IPL, many had expected to witness fireworks from the 29-year-old’s bat. Unfortunately for DD who bought Maxwell for a whopping sum of INR 9 crores, it was not to be.

Earlier in 2018, Maxwell had scored 287 runs in 7 BBL games and followed it up with 233 runs in 5 matches in the Trans-Tasman T20 Trophy that Australia eventually ended up winning. IPL, however, turned out to be a dampener for the Australian batting all-rounder as he amassed only 169 runs in 12 games at a poor average of 14.08 and managed to pick up only 5 scalps with the ball.
