AB de Villiers launches official app AB 17 for his fans and followers

Arguably the greatest batsman of the modern generation, AB de Villiers recently launched his official app to keep in constant touch with his fans and followers. De Villiers who will be missing out on the opening few games of IPL 10 kept his fans busy by launching his app. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their opening encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs and will look for a better performance on Saturday against the Delhi Daredevils.

The reason behind launching this app is to get first-hand information about de Villiers so that his fans remain updated on each and every whereabouts of Mr. 360. The app named AB 17 will allow his fans to approach the star batsman directly and ask different questions. De Villiers will also keep updating about his personal and cricketing life and what it takes to be a professional cricketer when the cameras aren’t around you.

The app has been co-partnered with US-based technology company FanHero and it will be the very first time a South African sportsperson will have his personalised fan engagement application.

“I have been looking for a way to engage on a more authentic level with my fans across the world and I believe that my app – AB 17 — would be the perfect way to do so. It will be my life in a bundle, something that I haven’t been able to get across on traditional social media,” De Villiers was quoted as saying by a press release on Thursday.

“The idea is to give the fans an idea of what it’s like to be an international cricketer playing the whole year round, and what it takes to get there. The app is an electronic open book and I hope fans will truly appreciate the insights I share with them, from off and on the field and on and off season.” This software also allows de Villiers to have full ownership of the contests posted in the app.
