Former South African captain and one of the greatest batsmen to have ever graced this beautiful game, AB de Villiers is set to make his debut at the Big Bash League on Wednesday (January 14th). De Villiers will turn out for the Chris Lynn-led Brisbane Heat when they take on the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba.

De Villiers is coming off a fruitful campaign for the Tshwane Spartans in the recently concluded Mzansi Super League where he racked up 325 runs at a whirlwind strike-rate of 152.58 which also includes four half-centuries in his last six innings.

The champion batsman feels he is in pretty good form leading into the Big Bash League. Speaking to Cricket Australia’s official website cricket.com.au, Me 360 degree said, “I felt in some of the best form of my career. Hopefully, we’ll see more of that in this tournament,” de Villiers said.

De Villiers reckoned the theatre team is in a really good place with some impressive performance by players this season, something he hopes he can emulate when he turns out at the Gabba on Tuesday.

“I know what’s required of me to make a play for the team. there have been some standout performances from the Heat this season and I think the team is in a really good place. Tom Banton did a fantastic job, hopefully, I, ’ll do a similar job but in the middle order,” he added.

AB de Villiers has played with and against some of the greatest batsmen, this game has ever seen. But when asked to name three best batsmen that he played with or against, the former captain couldn’t go past Graeme Smith, his RCB teammate Virat Kohli and Steven Smith.

“Very limited in his technique but he finds a way just an amazing character,” said AB de Villiers about Steve Smith before adding: “Graeme Smith, there is something about the Smiths. Graeme Smith [was] n, not the flashiest players but he played for the team and wanted to make a statement always. Virat Kohli is similar. The kind of guy you don’t talk on the field.”
