Cricket is played in various countries at different venues with billions of fans following the sport around the globe. The fans have played an integral role in making the game what it is today. No matter in which corner of the world you play, they gather in huge numbers to support their favourite teams.

The Indian team for sure enjoys a great fan following. Whether they play in New Zealand or England, it’s as good as a home game with the kind of support they get. Even the other Asian teams Pakistan and Bangladesh aren’t far when it comes to crowd fanfare in overseas countries.

There is nothing more enjoyable than a good playing environment, a buzzing crowd that’s as much involved in the game as the 13 players and 2 match officials at the field. While the crowd support might not work in your reckoning, the vocal encouragement surely motivates the player to do better.

While in India, you get to see too much support for the home team. The crowd cheers every run while there would be complete silence when someone like a Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni gets out. In Australia and England, alongside the players, even the crowd indulges in verbal volleys. They like to engage in banters with fielders at the boundary line. While sometimes it may get ugly like the finger gate or the Inzamam episode, it has also turned out to be hilarious at times.

We take you back to once such moment. Former Indian allrounder Ajit Agarkar was going through one of those unwanted streaks where he had bagged seven consecutive ducks in two consecutive series against the Aussies. In the Brisbane Test, as the crowd called for another duck, Agarkar managed to get a single. In a sporting manner, as he completed the runs, he raised his bat to the crowd appreciating them. It was a funny spectacle as even the commentators couldn’t hold on to their laughter.

Here’s the video clip of Ajit Agarkar scoring his first run:
