Ever since making his Test debut as a 22-year old in 2006, Alastair Cook has been a long servant of England, especially in the Test cricket. While his opening partners kept changing over the years, Cook stood still and led England to many victories as a captain as well. The England opener might have witnessed many ups and downs in his career but remains as England’s most successful batsman and the longest serving opener in Test history.

1 – Alastair Cook is the youngest player to achieve the milestone of 7,000 runs, 8,000 runs, 9,000, 10,000 runs and 11,000 runs in Test cricket.

59 – Cook is the most capped captain of England in Test cricket with 59 Test caps. England won 24 Tests under his captaincy which are the joint 2nd most behind Michael Vaughan’s 26 wins. England’s 22 defeats under him are also the most under any captain.


60 – Cook’s 60 wins in International cricket are the most for England under any captain. He led England in 129 matches across all formats which are also the most by any player.

150 – Alastair Cook is the only England player and one of the eight players in Test history to appear in 150 matches.


4844 – Cook aggregated 4844 runs as a Test captain which are the most by any player for England and overall the 6th highest. His 12 hundreds in the Test cricket are also the most for an England captain.


11085 – Alastair Cook is the only player in Test history to score 10000 runs as an opener. He went past Sunil Gavaskar’s tally of 9607 runs during 2016 season. His 14350 runs across formats as an opener are also the 8th most for any player in International cricket.

11712 – Cook’s 11712 runs in Test cricket is the 9th highest aggregate of all time as till date. He is also the only player from England to aggregate over 9000 Test runs.


14977 – His 14977 runs in International cricket are the most by an England player. His 32 hundreds across all formats are also the most by any England player.
