Travis Head smashed the third century of his Test career in just 85 balls as Australia dominate England on Day 2 of the first Ashes Test. David Warner too returned to form (in Ashes) as he scored 94 runs in just the first innings of this Ashes whereas he managed only 95 runs throughout the 2019 series in England. Marnus Labuschagne too struck a half-century as Australia ended the day with 196-run lead.

Ollie Robinson, the tall pacer, was England’s highest wicket-taker in the day as he took the wickets of both openers David Warner and Marcus Harris and also Cameron Green. Joe Root led England team struggled with dropped catches, no-balls as the Kangaroos made them pay with a dominant display of batting, especially from Warner and Head. England thrice missed the opportunity to take the prize scalp of David Warner as he along with Marnus Labuschagne shared a terrific 156 runs stand for the second wicket.

With Travis Head not out on 112*, Australia will be looking to add more runs to take the lead past 250 runs on the third day. England would hope to come back stronger and dismiss a well-set Travis Head before the game slips through their hands. Apart from Ollie Robinson, England will be banking on Mark Wood and Chris Wood to come good and take the remaining wickets of the Australian team as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, here are the important stats and numbers from Australia vs England, 1st Test Day two:
