Amidst the Day-Night Adelaide Test, COVID-19 scares have again cast a cloud over the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cricket Australia have gotten on their toes after coronavirus cases emerged on the northern beaches of Sydney. It has affected the ongoing pink-ball Test as Brett Lee and a number of other commentators have been asked to return home to ensure safety.

As per reports, Channel 7 and Fox Sports have sent back some of their personnel who were in charge of the opening Test. It’s been learned that Brett Lee, the former Australian cricketer, has also flown back to his home in Sydney. The members of the staff have now undergone fresh COVID-19 tests and it goes without saying that the CA can’t afford to drop their guard by any means.

Brett Lee had a chat with Fox Sports before leaving

Lee went back home after CA released a directive, asking the media personnel to contact the ones, who have been to the northern beaches’ region in Sydney in the last three weeks. Lee was a part of the commentary panel in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. Having spent quite a few amounts of time away from his family, he didn’t want to be in forced-quarantine.

“We had a good talk last night. He went back this morning. Of course, everyone is being responsible and he totally understood that,” Fox Sports boss Steve Crawley was quoted as saying on Times Now.

“We have had to send out a number of staff to get them tested. Brett is in the air now, he’s gone back this morning. It was just the right thing to do and he was very comfortable doing that,” he added. Lee won’t be there for the remainder of the Adelaide Test.

As far as proceedings on the field are concerned, India were bowled out for 244 in 93.1 overs. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins did most of the damage, picking up four and three wickets respectively. In the first session on the second day, the visitors were bundled out. Virat Kohli remained as their top-scorer with 74 runs before he got run out after a mix-up with Ajinkya Rahane.
