Bangladesh's Abu Hider Rony slapped with penalty for using cuss words

Abu Hider Rony, Bangladesh’s left-arm seamer was previously accused of using inappropriate language during his team’s second T20I against the Windies at Lauderhill in the United States of America (USA). He breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support that related to “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match”.

Subsequently, the 22-year old fast bowler has been fined 20 percent of his match fees by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his unsportsmanlike attitude on the cricket field. Moreover, he has also been slapped with one demerit point in his record. The incident took place in the 14th over when Rovman Powell spanked him for a couple of back-to-back sixes as per reports in www.bdcrictime.com.

Leslie Reifer and Joel Wilson along with Gregory Brathwaite, the third umpire and Nigel Duguid, the fourth umpire filed the charge against the speedster. After the match, Rony also accepted his wrongdoing. Nevertheless, Rony had an impressive stint with the leather in the second match as he finished with impressive figures of 4-0-26-0 to go with 11 dot deliveries.

Bangladesh make a comeback

Bangladesh didn’t start the series on an impressive note as they lost the first match at St Kitts. Nonetheless, Shakib Al Hasan and his men showed grit and determination to draw level in the second encounter. After being sent to bat, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib scored 74 and 60 runs respectively to rack a substantial score of 171/5 in the in 20 overs.

During the run-chase, the home team went hammer and tongs, but wickets at regular intervals kept pushing them back. Andre Fletcher and Rovman Powell churned out 43 runs each, but couldn’t get their side home. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman and left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu nipped out three wickets each. The skipper also contributed with a couple of wickets.
