Hobart Hurricanes stand as the only unbeaten side in the Big Bash League this season after all the teams have played three matches apiece. The Hurricanes have won all the three matches they played thus far and are placed at the top of the table. They will now be up against Perth Scorchers who opened their winning account in the previous match with help of their pace attack. This game will be marked for the return of Cameron Bancroft to professional cricket.

Bancroft served a nine-month ban by Cricket Australia (CA) for his involvement in the ball-tampering controversy earlier this year. He has been added to the 13-man squad along with the wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Whiteman who is returning to the lineup after missing the last match due to illness. The duo will be replacing the young paceman Cameron Green and wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis in the squad. On the other hand, the Hurricanes have retained the winning squad.

Match Details:

The 13th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) will be played between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers at the Aurora Stadium in Launceston.

The match starts at 7:15 PM local time (8:15 AM GMT) (1:45 PM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The track here is expected to play slower as the only T20 game played here witnessed the chasing sides bundle out for 100 chasing 160. This match will be played after the WBBL game between Hobart and Brisbane. The pitch could play similar to that of the Docklands on Saturday where the Renegades managed only 99/9 in the 133-run chase.

Squads:

Power Picks:

James Faulkner hasn’t been the same player he was a couple of years ago as a clear difference has been seen in his batting. However, in this BBL, the left-arm pacer has done well to restrict the batsmen. Faulkner has five wickets across three matches in this tournament as his slower deliveries and cutters have done the trick thus far.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

45.5, 43.5 and 40.5 – D’Arcy Short’s performance points in the three games this season. After struggling in Internationals and in the IPL, Short came back strongly in the BBL. He has not only scored well but also chipped in with wickets. Launceston is expected to be on the slower side and the Perth bowlers Tye, Richardson and Behrendorff have the capability of exploiting them. Someone like McDermott will be useful in these conditions.

Best Playing XI:

Keeper – Matthew Wade

Batters – Ben McDermott, D’Arcy Short (C), Ashton Turner

All-rounders – David Willey, James Faulkner, Ashton Agar

Bowlers – Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff (VC), Jofra Archer

Risky Playing XI:

Keeper – Matthew Wade

Batters – Ben McDermott, D’Arcy Short (VC), Michael Klinger

All-rounders – David Willey, James Faulkner (C), Will Bosisto

Bowlers – Jhye Richardson, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff, Jofra Archer

Expert Advice:

Comeback man Bancroft will be eager to make it big in his maiden BBL appearance this season. However, given the fact Bancroft is in keepers’ category along with Matthew Wade, it will be tough to pick the Scorcher. In the current form, Wade is a contender for a multiplier.

Probable Winners:

The Perth Scorchers have enough fuel in the team to knock down the Hobart Hurricanes and hand them their first defeat.
