The Hobart Hurricanes stayed alive in the semi-final race with a close win over the Melbourne Renegades which is only their 4th in 12 matches in this season. Matthew Wade smashed a 29-ball 66 with 10 fours by using the powerplay overs. Mac Wright anchored the innings with an unbeaten 70 off 50 balls while Ben McDermott’s 19-ball 38* at the end pushed the Hurricanes to 190/3.
Shaun Marsh’s 56 off 30 deliveries with 8 boundaries get a perfect start to the Renegades in the chase. Mohammad Nabi brought the game into the home team’s grasp with a 30-ball 63 while Beau Webster also scored a fifty. However, with 12 needed off 9 balls, Nabi was dismissed. Renegades could only get seven runs in the next 8 balls and lost the game by 4 runs.

A hat-trick for Hurricanes over the Renegades:
3 – Hobart Hurricanes now have won each of their last three BBL matches against Melbourne Renegades. They defeated Renegades by 16 runs when they faced for the 2nd time in the 2018-19 season and by 7 wickets in the home fixture in the ongoing edition.
Prior to the start of 2019-20, the Hurricanes never won back to back fixtures against the Renegades. In fact, the Hobart team won only three of the nine meetings against the Renegades ahead of the season.
A narrow win for the Hurricanes:
4 – The 4-run margin in this match is the 2nd shortest victory margin in terms of runs for the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL. They defeated the Brisbane Heat by three runs during the 2017-18 season game at The Gabba.
Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, lost two matches at less than four runs in the BBL – by 1 run against Adelaide Strikers in 2017-18 and by 2 runs against Sydney Sixers in 2013-14.

3 – Shaun Marsh, Mohammad Nabi and Beau Webster became only the 3rd trio of a team to score fifties in the same Big Bash League match. This is also the first such instance for the Renegades in the BBL.

5 – As many as five players scored fifties in the game on Tuesday – 3 from Renegades and 2 from Hurricanes. This is now the first-ever match in the history of Big Bash League where five different players scored half-centuries.

Across the 12 matches played in this season thus far, Shaun Marsh has scored 449 runs while Beau Webster amassed 404 runs. The most number of runs by a player in a BBL season until 2018-19 was held by Aaron Finch with 354 runs across 8 matches he played in the 2016-17 edition.
404 – The 404 runs by Webster in this tournament makes him only the 2nd player with 400+ runs in a BBL season while not opening the innings. During the previous edition, Callum Ferguson amassed 442 runs while batting at No.3 or lower position.
