The Hobart Hurricanes stayed alive in the semi-final race with a close win over the Melbourne Renegades which is only their 4th in 12 matches in this season. Matthew Wade smashed a 29-ball 66 with 10 fours by using the powerplay overs. Mac Wright anchored the innings with an unbeaten 70 off 50 balls while Ben McDermott’s 19-ball 38* at the end pushed the Hurricanes to 190/3.

Shaun Marsh’s 56 off 30 deliveries with 8 boundaries get a perfect start to the Renegades in the chase. Mohammad Nabi brought the game into the home team’s grasp with a 30-ball 63 while Beau Webster also scored a fifty. However, with 12 needed off 9 balls, Nabi was dismissed.
