The Big Bash League (BBL) is arguably one of the most anticipated events in Australia. With the amount of excitement and competition it brings to the fore, the cricket on-lookers are on the edge of their seats. The franchise-based T20 cricket league was established in the year 2011 by cricket Australia.
Out of the eight teams contesting in the tournament, six have won the title. Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers are the most successful teams in the league having won two titles each. The finals of the BBL 2020 were also played between these two teams wherein the Sydney Sixers had emerged as the champions. The team defended their title after registering a 27 runs win against the Scorchers.
However, now the league is all set to entertain the fans with the upcoming edition starting from December. The Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22 will be the 11th edition of the high-profile tournament. The league is all set to commence on December 5, 2021, with the final staged for January 28, 2022. A total of eight teams will be featuring in this edition of the BBL wherein the tournament will witness 61 matches.
All the matches of the mega event will be played in Australia under the guidelines put forth by the Australian government. The Sixers are the current champions of the marquee event and will lock horns with Melbourne Stars in the opening fixture of the competition.
