From best friends to soulmates - The journey of Rohit and Ritika

Rohit Sharma was fantabulous with the bat, especially in the second ODI and the second T20I against Sri Lanka. The 30-year-old got to his third ODI double hundred, which made him the only person with three double in List A cricket. However, his romantic gesture after reaching the mark grabbed the limelight. Things have been going really well for Rohit, with winning both his first ODI and T20I series’ as skipper.

Rohit’s record-breaking double hundred came on a very special day, his marriage anniversary. The star Indian batsman won all the hearts by dedicating his knock to his wife, Ritika Sajdeh. After getting to the 200, Rohit made a very romantic gesture by pointing at his ring finger. This cute gesture from hubby made her all emotional. Whenever our beloved Hitman goes out to bat, Ritika gets nervous. With her fingers crossed, she hopes for her husband to perform well.

The century from Rohit Sharma in the second T20I against Sri Lanka also came on a special occasion. To add to the records broken, it was Ritika’s birthday. Gifting his wife the world’s (joint) fastest century in T20I would have made her so happy. These simple yet wonderful gestures over the past few days made Rohit and Ritika a desirable couple. Going back in time, the Mumbaikar spoke about the wonderful moments when he first saw Ritika.

The Love Story – Soulmates to best friends

In the chat show ‘Breakfast with champions’, Rohit opened up about his love story. He went back to the times when he first spoke to her. The right-handed batsman met Ritika in a shoot, in which Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan were also featured. Ritika was already a close friend of Yuvraj and they both have a really special bond. “I had gone for a shoot with Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan. I reached the place where the shoot was going on and went to meet Yuvraj Singh as he was the senior player.”

“Ritika was sitting there. Before I could start talking to her, Yuvi said, “Don’t look at her, she is like my sister”. I was looking at Ritika with a lot of anger during the entire shoot,” recalling the moment, Rohit said. Rohit couldn’t do well on the shoot as he was distracted by her. He also said that she came to him and asked if the star batsman needed any help. “After that, we became very close friends. She started managing me as well. There was some connect as a friend. We did a couple of shoots together and it became a never-ending relationship,” he added.

Young and charming Ritika also worked as a sports manager in the famous celebrity managing firm of her cousin, Bunty Sajdeh. Rohit proposed to her at a very special venue, the famous Borivali Sports Club, where the opening batsman started off playing cricket. Sharma took her to the stadium where he started off at the age of 11 and proposed her and they were engaged.
