Stuart Broad has launched a stunning rant at ICC’s after England crashed out of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Thursday. Rather when the fans questioned him about England’s victory in the World Cup final through boundary count rule, Broad termed it ‘rubbish’ as well. However, he was also quick to address that the rules have been changed now.

England’s semifinal against India in the Women’s T20 World Cup was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Thursday. With no reserve day in place, both the teams could only watch on from the pavilion as the game was eventually called off.

As per the rules, both sides needed to bat for at least 10 overs to constitute a game. However, the conditions did not even let a single bowl to be bowled. India progressed ahead of England by virtue of finishing top of Group A while England were eliminated after finishing runners-up in Group B having lost their opening game to South Africa.

But while the rule was in place right from the start of the competition, England’s departure from the tournament has drawn severe criticism. And Stuart Broad also joined the bandwagon as he took to Instagram to express his frustration. The England star was not at all impressed with the way his country exited the competition.

“Why no reserve day @ICC? Seems sensible,” wrote Broad while replying to ICC’s update on the England-India semifinal. However, a number of fans hit back at Broad and reminded him of the boundary count rule that saw England beat New Zealand in men’s World Cup last year.

After the scores were tied post the 100 overs of play, the super over was also tied and England won the World Cup for hitting more boundaries during the match which was absolutely bizarre. Stuart Broad, however, was quick to reply to those comments and wrote: “I also think the boundary count thing in the Men’s WC Final was rubbish. It’s now been changed as mistakes were realised.”

‘Re-think reserve day policy’

After the disappointing manner of exit from the World Cup, England captain Heather Knight said she hopes the ICC will introduce reserve days into future tournaments. Knight said that the England players are frustrated over the turn of events.

“We’re very frustrated,” Knight told Sky Sports. “There’s not a lot we can do, I guess. It has rained a lot and to not have the chance to fight in the final is very gutting, I guess, but it is what it is.

“Hopefully there will be a rule change and another side won’t have to go through this.  It’s the rules, I guess, that were signed up to at the start of the tournament; it’s just frustrating really because it could have been avoided. You just hope that now it’s brought into the game in the future,” she added.
