India is grappling with the second wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the situation across the country is extremely grim. In such difficult times, the cricket fraternity has also shown solidarity with the people of India by coming forward to donate. So far, many notable cricket personalities have come forward to do their bit and help the people in India.

The latest edition to the list is of the Bradman Museum & Foundation. The Bradman Museum & Foundation has decided to donate the earnings of the museum for the weekend 1 and 2 May (up to $10,000) to the UNICEF Australia’s India COVID-19 Crisis Appeal. This is a movement initiated by Cricket Australia as they have formed a collaboration with the Australian Cricketer’s Association and UNICEF Australia to collect funds. The generated funds will be provided to India for their medical equipment and generating oxygen for the critical patients.

Further, the foundation will also be launching an online call, The Bradman India COVID Appeal, to raise funds for India. The Bradman India COVID Appeal is made to make the people aware of the crisis India is going through and provide them a platform to donate and help the Asian nation.

We welcome and encourage donations from the public: CEO Rina Hore

The Bradman Foundation Chairman Leon Zwier opined on the initiative saying that they hope that their donation will also inspire other people to come forward and donate. “We are devastated by the unfolding tragedy in India and hope that the Bradman Foundation donation may also encourage others to make their own contributions,” Leon said.

CEO Rina Hore further added, “We welcome and encourage donations from the public for the purpose of making a further contribution to UNICEF working to relieve the suffering.”

Apart from the Bradman Museum & Foundation, Cricket Australia, Pat Cummins, and Jason Behredroff have also donated to UNICEF Australia’s India COVID-19 Crisis Appeal. While Jason has contributed an undisclosed amount, the speedster donated a whopping amount of  $50, 000 to UNICEF Australia’s India COVID-19 Crisis Appeal.

Many Indian players including the likes of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Jaydev Unadkat, Rishabh Pant, Yuzvendra Chahal, and many more have also done their bit by donating to various NGOs across the country.
