Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum is currently serving his trade in the Indian Premier League 2017. Ever since his international retirement, McCullum has been a part of the various T20 leagues in the world. The IPL is no exception. Going by a recent tweet by the former Kiwi cricketer, it is pretty much evident that he has a special corner for the Chennai Superkings in his heart.

Brendon McCullum is currently playing for the Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2017. Prior to this, he has been a part of several IPL teams including the champion team of CSK. His heroics for the Superkings have been illustrious. No wonder why he loves the franchise so much. Talking about the team, Chennai Superkings has arguably been the most consistent team in the IPL.

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the team has won the tournament twice in the history of the league. Also, they have managed to make it to the playoffs in every edition of IPL in which they have participated.

It was prior to the commencement of the IPL 2016 that the teams of CSK and Rajasthan Royals were disbanded and were handed a two year ban each. All their players went in the auction pool and were picked up by the Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant – the two franchises on the roster. The players of the CSK had to split up too.

Recently, Russell Radhakrishnan, the manager of the CSK, shared a memory on the social media. He posted a picture of the CSK boys dressed up in RPS and GL T-shirts but uniting for a picture after the auctions last year. Along with the picture, he wrote, “One year ago on this day this pic was taken #friendsmemoriespriceless”.

Brendon McCullum could not control being nostalgic after having seen the picture. He went on to retweet the same picture and wrote the lines that will surely win the hearts of the CSK fans.

He wrote, “Some truly great people in this photo. All from very different walks of life, but together we were 1 bloody good cricket team! @ChennaiIPL”.

The CSK are slated to be back in the IPL next year and it will only be fitting to see McCullum get back on the roster for the Superkings.
