Being called to bowl in the nets Prasidh Krishna ended up with a spot in the KKR squad

Kolkata Knight Riders on the morning of an important competition against the Sunrisers Hyderabad lost a pacer who on the outside was considered to be a certain starter. As per reports Kamlesh Nagarkoti came into the tournament with a foot injury and hadn’t recovered one week into the IPL. KKR wanting to play safe ruled him out of the tournament added Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna to the team.

As it turns out Prasidh was with KKR even during the pre-tournament training sessions. He played the practice matches for the team and thus when they wanted a replacement for Nagarkoti the team didn’t have to look further and instead named Prasidh in the squad. During their practice session for the match against SRH, he bowled at the two big hitters of the team Andre Russell and Chris Lynn.

Vijay Hazare success

It is not his exploits in the nets that have impressed the team as much as his performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Karnataka. He picked up 17 wickets and was highly appreciated for his accuracy as well as pace. He is tall, likes to hit the deck hard and backs himself against even the best of the batsmen.

Having made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2015 he had a memorable game against Bangladesh A where he picked up a five-wicket haul.

The 22-year-old was with KKR to help their batsmen prepare in the nets and once the team completed the replacement procedure he is now a part of the main team.

Called to bowl in the nets

“They had called me for some bowling practice. That’s why I was here,” he was quoted as saying Sportstar.

In Nagarkoti’s absence, it is likely that KKR who lost a last over thriller to the Chennai Super Kings bring in another U19 pacer Shivam Mavi into the playing XI since Vinay Kumar has had a really tough last couple of games.
