Corey Anderson ruled out of IPL: A big blow for Mumbai Indians as they are set to miss the services of New Zealand All Rounder Corey Anderson in the ongoing IPL. It has been announced that Anderson is ruled out of the tournament due to a fractured finger.
Anderson missed Mumbai Indians’ last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore due to the injury and will be heading back home where the full assessment of his injury will be taken upon his arrival in New Zealand.
With this injury, his participation in New Zealand’s tour to England is in serious doubt. New Zealand are scheduled to tour England for two Tests, five ODIs and a T20I in May-June. The Kiwis are already set to miss Adam Milne who is recovering from a heel injury.
Corey’s injury comes as a major jolt for Mumbai Indians after their opener Aaron Finch was ruled out of the IPL due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the match against Rajasthan Royals. With that injury Finch will be out of action for 3 months. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, too was called back home by Cricket Australia as they want him fresh for Ashes.
In spite of Mumbai losing their first four matches on the trot, Corey Anderson was looking good since the start of the tournament. In the first four matches he played, Corey had scored 114 runs at an average of over 43 including two fifties. With Corey out of IPL, Lendl Simmons, Keiron Pollard, Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan will be the four overseas players for Mumbai.
Mumbai are yet to name any replacements for Josh Hazlewood, Aaron Finch and Corey Anderson.
