GT XI against CSK| Predicted Gujarat Titans' playing 11 against Chennai Super Kings for 7th Match of IPL 2024 - CricTracker

Gujarat Titans (GT) began their life under Shubman Gill’s captaincy with a close win against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. It was a sweet win for the IPL 2022 winners because up against them was their former skipper Hardik Pandya, who was leading Mumbai Indians.

Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten wore a proud look as the Gujarat bowlers came back to grab victory from the jaws of defeat. Mohit Sharma yet again tormented the Mumbai Indians line-up as the opposition batters had no clue to his variations with the ball. The batting charge was led by Sai Sudharsan, who top scored with 45 runs.

It is a crucial next game for Gujarat Titans as they travel down south to face the defending champions. Chennai Super Kings won their record-equalling fifth title by beating Gujarat Titans in front of their home fans in the grand finale of the 2023 edition. It is now time for Shubman Gill and his Titans to seek a chance to exact revenge against the men in yellow.

Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha yet showed why they are a dangerous pair on Sunday. The pair added 31 runs in just 4 overs to put Mumbai Indians bowlers out of their rhythm early. Saha is known for his attacking starts, and thus, he will have a given role to perform in the Chepauk encounter.

Gill, on the other hand, is now leading the pack for GT, which puts added responsibility on him to put on runs, and anchor the innings to maximize the runs' tally on the scoreboard. With Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande struggling for form, Gill and Saha will be salivating at the prospect of facing the two under-fire CSK bowlers.

Middle-order – Sai Sudharsan and David Miller

Young Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudharsan yet again was the saviour for his side with a crucial 45 against Mumbai on Sunday. He also received the Player of the Match award for his stellar batting display against MI. The left-handed batter scored 96 against Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2023 final.

David Miller is one of the most reputed names in T20 circuit. Living up to the hype, Miller has always performed in crunch situations, and has the ability to change gears at will. His prowess in hitting fierce sixes makes him the most valuable addition to the middle-order for the two-time finalists.

All-rounders – Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid Khan

Afghanistan star debutant Azmatullah Omarzai immediately won the crowd over with the wickets of Ishan Kishan and Naman Dhir. He gave early breakthroughs to the team, and a similar role will be expected of him when he takes the field on Tuesday.

Vijay Shankar didn’t get to bat much, but his experience in Chennai, representing Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, makes him a key addition to the Gujarat squadron. His bowling isn't used much by the Titans, however, he may fill in for a few overs, if the mainstays are having a bad outing.

Rahul Tewatia's unbeaten 22 against Mumbai made a huge difference for his side to post a competitive total on the board. Eventually, his knock turned out to be pivotal in Gujarat having that extra cushion, leading them to a six-run win in their season opener.

Rashid Khan yet again was at his best with the ball as he delivered an economical spell on Sunday. The Afghan all-rounder also has the ability to make crucial runs at the end, which could prove really helpful, as it could prove to be a turning point in the game. Chepauk's slow wicket is expected to assist the spinner a lot as well.

Bowlers – Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson, and R Sai Kishore

Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav had a mixed game with the ball, as he was expensive at the start of his spell. However, he came back well as the pacer's wickets of Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla ended Mumbai’s hopes of a win in the final over. The experience of Yadav makes him a definite pick in the XI, especially in the absence of speedster Mohammed Shami.

Australian seamer Spencer Johnson was taken to the cleaners by Dewald Brevis. The left-arm pacer though held his own to dismiss Tilak Varma and Gerald Coetzee to help his side tighten their grip on the game.

Finally, the role of the Chennai lad Sai Kishore will be crucial as the spinner bowler well and also got the big wicket of Rohit Sharma. He was also economical in the game against Mumbai Indians. The variations he put on display with the ball left everyone in awe of the Tamil Nadu cricketer's ability to stem the flow of runs.
