In the 24th match of the IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans will be facing Rajasthan Royals. Both teams have had a contrasting journey in the league so far. RR is the only team to be unbeaten in the league so far. In four matches in the league, RR have won all of them, making them the table toppers at the moment. With a total of 8 points and a net run rate of +1.120, they are placed well in the points table. GT has a lot of worries due to their performances in the last few games.

The 2022 champions were off to a good start in the tournament, winning two of their first three matches. But in the last two games, the Titans have not been able to close out as well as they would have liked. In five matches so far, the franchise has a total of 2 wins and 3 losses to their name respectively. With a total of 4 points and a net run rate of -0.797, the two-time finalists are placed in the 7th position in the points table. They need a win as a morale booster.

Both teams would be looking forward to the match. Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur will be hosting its third match of the league. The focus of GT would be to win by a big margin. RR would be hoping to continue their winning run. They have some of the best players in the world like Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Yuzuvendra Chahal, Nandre Burger, and so on.  GT has some good players who can post a challenge to RR.

Here is the probable playing XI for GT for the match against RR in IPL 2024, Match 24 -

Openers — Shubman Gill (C) and Sai Sudarshan

GT will continue to open with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan. The promotion of Sudharsan happened in the last game after the experienced campaigner Wriddhiman Saha was dropped. With the incoming of BR Sharath, the southpaw is expected to open alongside the Titans' skipper. Gill and Sudharsan are two young batters who have shown consistency in scoring runs. The left-right combination could work well given the nature of the Jaipur wicket.

Gill has returned to form in the last 2–3 games. The star batter has been good as a skipper, despite not getting likely results. His form with the bat is essential for GT in the absence of some key batters. Sai Sudarshan is usually an anchor who bats through the innings. The youngster has the calibre and step up on big occasions. He can play well in the middle overs after getting set and has a wide range of shots to back himself up.

Middle Order - Kane Williamson, BR Sharath (WK), and Vijay Shankar

In the middle order, GT has a good mix of youth and experience. Kane Williamson is likely to continue to bat at number 3 for GT. The Kiwi batter has not had a good season so far. But given the class of the batter, one could expect him to deliver the goods come the game against RR. He can also bowl an over or two if necessary. To follow him would be BR Sharath, who is a brilliant wicketkeeper-batter. With the gloves, he can claim stunning catches behind the stumps.

In the last match against Super Giants, he got his maiden opportunity to bat for the Titans. However, Sharath could not make the most of the opportunities and failed with the bat. He would be hoping to perform well against RR and make a name for himself. GT has Vijay Shankar in the lower middle order, who can bat aggressively and anchor the innings as well. The right-handed batter needs to step up for GT given his poor form so far. If necessary, he can offer part-time bowling.

All-Rounders - Rahul Tewatia, Darshan Nalkande, and Rashid Khan

GT has a lot of emerging all-rounders. In the last game against LSG, Azmatuallah Omarzai was dropped. It is unlikely for him to return for the upcoming game. They have gone with the likes of Darshan Nalkande, Rahul Tewatia, and Rashid khan for the role. Nalkande usually operates at the death as a bowler. In the last game, he got an opportunity to bat, but could not make the most of it. However, on a flat deck at Jaipur, he may come well if the ball lands in his arc.

Rahul Tewatia finished the innings well against PBKS. But in the last game against LSG, he struggled to get going on a slow pitch. If required, he can bowl all 4 overs. But the management would love to see him play cameos. Rashid Khan has not been at his best in the ongoing tournament. The star player needs to step up both as a batter and as a bowler. Though Khan bowled well in the last game, he needs to bowl well consistently and improve his control over lengths.

Bowlers - Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson, Noor Ahmad, and Mohit Sharma (Impact substitute)

GT has a good set of bowlers who are talented. With the new ball, Umesh Yadav is likely to continue and give them the early wickets. The star pacer bowled well in the game against LSG and would be hoping to replicate the same against PBKS. Spencer Johnson played the last game against LSG. He can take the new ball and return to bowl at the back end. Bowling was not an issue for GT in their last game against LSG. Even in the middle overs, they have a lot of good options.

Rashid would be looking forward to performing well in the match. To assist him, Noor Ahmad and Mohit Sharma can provide handful contributions in the middle overs. The left-arm spinner is a highly impressive who can keep the economy in check. At the other end, GT have got an experienced campaigner in Mohit Sharma. The right-arm pacer would be handy in the middle overs and be the key death bowler for GT. With his slower ones, yorkers, cutters, and wide yorkers, Mohit can trouble the batters and claim wickets, ultimately restricting the opposition totals.
